My Top 10 Destinations

Many of you keep asking me for my favourite destinations of all time. Aarghh..this is a tough call to make out of so many of them. Well, here are my answers…the Top 10 Destinations of all time

1. New York (USA)
The city that never sleeps. This is a city of heart and steely resolve, even in the face of tragedy. It is home to such treasures as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Central Park, 5th Avenue boutiques, the famous Broadway stages and the breathtaking Met.

2. Bangkok (THAILAND)
This City of Angels is a thriving commercial center set in the heart of Southeast Asia. Famous for its Buddhist temples, tasty Thai cuisine and wonderful service, it is easy to understand why so many visitors keep coming back to the Land of Smiles.

3. Tokyo (JAPAN)
Tokyo - The World’s Eastern Capital. Here’s where global business starts its day; home of Kabuki & Pokemon, Sumo & Sega; city of safe streets, cell phones, on-time trains and sky-high prices; Godzilla’s playground, where East & West collide and coexist.

4. Xi’An (CHINA)
Most of the 5,000 year history of China are centralised in Xi’An (also known as Western Peace). As with many cities in China, Xi’An is being modernised in a major way but the ancient areas of both the inner and outer city have retained their integrity.

5. Rome (ITALY)
Historic, romantic, beautiful, confronting and electric all the same time. Perhaps the most awe-inspiring sites in Rome would be Trevi Fountain, Vatican City, and Colosseum. The Colosseum is truly remarkable, ranking alongside the Great Wall as possibly the most spectacular man-made structure I’ve ever seen.

6. Paris (FRANCE)
High on many travelers dream lists as a destination, one of the most popular cities in the world can also be enjoyed surprisingly economically, with a little planning and background knowledge.

7. Rio De Jeneiro (BRAZIL)
Called the “Wonderful City” by Brazilians, Rio features the best of all worlds. Great nightlife, beautiful beaches, stunning shorelines, friendly people, plenty of shopping, and many, many restaurants featuring cuisine from all over the world make Rio a thrill for all five senses!

8. Johannesburg (SOUTH AFRICA)
Johannesburg, meaning ‘City of Gold’, is now the financial centre of Africa and very Western, filling the sky with concrete and glass buildings, and intensity of activity, unseen in other parts of Africa; ‘Joey’ should not be missed.

9. Cairo (EGYPT)
Home to the Pyramids, the Egyptian Museum and over 16 million people, Cairo is teeming with history and culture. The past blends with the present, creating a unique and exciting atmosphere. Magical, mystical and maddening but never mediocre.

10. Hong Kong (CHINA)
Hong Kong bustles 24/7! And no matter what time of day it is, Hong Kongers or Hong Kis (as i always call them) are always out and about, engaging in the city’s favorite pastimes of shopping and eating! The best thing to do in Hong Kong is to allow yourself to get lost and discover its hidden sidewalk treasures for yourself and, most importantly, to soak up as much as you can of the Hong Kong way of life.
